July 4th Goodies

We had a simple celebration on the 4th of July. Since everybody is in our house, including my Bro in law and my Mom in law, we decided to divide some tasks. My bro in law and my husband decided to do the grilling and I decided to bake some goodies. My Mom in law talked about the stories they had in the past on how they celebrated July 4th. There is always a small family reunion and good food. She said the food that we prepared is just good and should be enough for all of us (she has to eat a little for her diabetic diet). We went to the side of their house to see the Fireworks. There is always Fireworks every 4th of July and I'm glad that my kids and I saw it while my husband stayed in our house. The Road downtown are in full traffic after fireworks and he's glad that he was able to avoid that as he has to work the next day.

How about you, did you have a great time on the 4th of July?

  1. July 4th was a blast for us. Had tons of family, siblings, cousins, aunts, grandma, parents, and kids galore. All up at my sisters swimming the day away, then we watched the fireworks show over Chautauqua Lake! Loved it!

  3. We had a simple celebration too. A normal dinner (cooked out) and went to a place not to far to watched the fireworks and played some games.

  4. I do not go out after dark or even dusk on July 4th!! Too many illegal fireworks around here. I did see some out of my window (I live on the 7th floor) and my cat seemed fascinated by them!

  9. What a cute cake. We did not do much this year, we have had rain every day for a while so a cook out was not something we could do. Glad you enjoyed yours and were able to split up the duties.

  16. Mommy Mel, you did an amazing job in the cake. I like the design and I bet it is delish :-) We missed the fireworks last year as my daughter and I were in the Philippines. This year is very special as my husband's eldest daughter and her daughter joined us to celebrate the 4th of July :-)
