Good Manners are the greatest charms one can possess.  We should try to cultivate them. Money cannot buy them. There is one way to obtain good manners, and that is by constant practice.  Always use good manners, then you need not be alarmed when among strangers, for it will be perfectly natural to be polite and respectful to all.

Honoring St. Monica

No comments:
In the new calendar of the Roman Catholic Church, August 27 is the Feast Day of Saint Monica. She is the mother of Saint Augustine whose Feast Day is celebrated on the 28th of August.  Based on my research, she is the Patron Saint of Wives and Abuse Victims.  Her life story is very inspiring as a mother, as a wife and also as a daughter-in-law.

Beautiful White Bougainvillea Flowers

No comments:

I was so impressed of the beautiful white bougainvillea flowers when I passed by a house on my way to the city.  I know this kind of plant is no longer common in most of the houses in our area.  Only few planted this plant because of the many varieties of new flowers that are being introduced at present. I knew also that this is a very sensitive plant when it is still on growing stage.

Miniature Chocolate Hills

No comments:
The other day, I went to Tagbilaran City to buy some grocery items in the supermarket.  Before dropping to the mall, I visited first the St. Joseph Cathedral.  After visiting the church, I passed by plaza Rizal going to the heart of the city.  Then, something catches my eye.  It was the miniature chocolate hills at the center of  the plaza.  The small hills were already brown as the bermuda grass have already weathered.  The grass did not survived because of the intensive heat of the sun for almost a month already.  I was attracted to the small hills as it depict the name the chocolate hills.

Our Coconuts Near Our House

No comments:
This week, we keep on cleaning our surroundings as the ground is still dry.  Then, we noticed our coconuts near our house.  They already started to produce small coconut fruits. My husband decided to clean the upper part of the coconuts in order to prevent rodents to attack them.  He is using an improvised stair made of bamboos so that he can reach the upper portion of the coconut trees.  For me, it is not so easy to do the job.  I am thankful my hubby has experienced this kind of work in his home place when he was still single.

Light and Shadows (Shared Readings)

No comments:
Every painting has its lights and shadows for contrast. Life is like that--with its lights and shadows.
The day has its night and day, its light and darkness, its storms and its balmy days. Life is like that. Consolations and desolations are the law of life.

If you were busy being glad, and cheering people who were sad, Although your heart might ache a bit, You'd soon forget to notice it.

One of the Tropical Plants in Our Place

No comments:
On my way to my brother's house, I saw a plant full of orange flowers.  This is one of the tropical plants in our area.  The said plant is not purposely being planted as it grows only along the barrio road.  However, I saw this kind of plant in some parks in the municipal areas of our province.  The flowers are so attractive once you go near to the plant.  Unfortunately, I do not know yet the name of this plant.

The Decorated Altar during the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

No comments:
In the old calendar of the Roman Catholic Church, August 22 is the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. However, in the new calendar, it is the Feast of the Queenship of Mary.

In our Chapel, we celebrate August 22 as the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  The picture below is a small altar depicting a small heart shape case where the image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary protruded in somewhat like a coin.  I was a witness to this miraculous happening since 1985 until the image of the coin gradually formed as the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  The caretaker of this coin received messages from the Blessed Virgin Mary thru dreams.

Lourdes Grotto In Simala

1 comment:
One of the Sacred Place I went to travel and see in Cebu was this Grotto in Simala. Many people go to this place because it is miraculous. I love this "grotto" of Mother Mary. It is a nice place of praying. The little cave where teh statue of the Mother Mary is, shelters her beautiful icon. There were green plants and pink flowers on the view. Many people including me prayed to God with the Blessed Mother's help on this "grotto". This is one of the so many "grottos" you can find in this place. This is the particular "grotto" that I liked. I felt so refreshed and comfortable when I reached to her image. May God bless me and my loved ones.

Build Your Faith - Key To Effective Prayer

When someone tells you "Keep Praying" or "I'm praying for you", do you focus on the "Act of Praying" rather than the person telling you to do so? Everybody is not perfect, but Prayers do miracles. It can even move a mountain. Praying is not just an act of reciting prayers, but rather an act of submission to God's presence, to believe with all your mind, heart and soul that God is truly the only One God, The Father Almighty. This is one important factor in Building Your Faith. Here are other factors that will also help you build your faith, according to Ruth Seebeck:

  • The more you speak, read and listen to the Word, the stronger your faith becomes. Hearing builds faith. When you speak, you hear yourself talk. When you read, you hear the words in your head.
  • What you hear and absorb is what you will eventually speak … and what you will receive. Prayer is only as effective as what is in your heart.

The Story About Beyond Human Power

No comments:
A servant of the Emperor Charles V was dying after many years of faithful service to his master. Because of his long service, the Emperor had a special affection for him, and filled with sincere grief, came to see him for the last time of his life.
"My dear friend," said the Emperor, as he stood by the bedside of the dying servant, "you have served me so  devotedly that I only wish I could make you some return. Is there anything at all that you desire? Let me know what it is, and I will see that you receive it."
"Yes," said the dying man. "There is one favor I would like to receive from your hands."
"What is it?" said the Emperor eagerly.
"Give me one more day of life--just one more day."
The Emperor's face grew sad.
"Alas," he said, "I am considered to be one of the most powerful monarchs upon this earth, but what you ask is entirely beyond my power to give. Only GOD can grant  and sustain the gift of life."
With a deep sigh, the dying man said:
"Then it is plain to me that I was foolish in not spending more time in the service of GOD than in the service of an earthly king."

An Uncontrolled Event

1 comment:
Last August 13, 2012, I told my husband that I am going to withdraw our money from our Bank as we are going to pay the tuition for midterms exam for my youngest daughter who is taking up nursing course. This was the money sent by my eldest daughter from the United States.  Since this amount is the only money that we have to pay for the tuition, my hubby told me not to withdraw it until August 15 because he has negative thoughts that I might be snatched along the way.  But I did not listen to my husband because I want to pay the tuition the following day August 14.  When I went to our bank , it was already past 10:00 in the morning.  Many depositors were already there who form their line going to the ATM machine. When my turn came, I inserted my ATM card.  I have transacted for my balance inquiry then after knowing my available balance, I proceeded to withdraw my money.  I was surprised for the long processing of the ATM machine.  Then afterwards, the ATM machine has displayed that it was out of order and it advised that we go to other banks with megalinks.  Since my plan is to withdraw the money on that day, I planned to withdraw over the counter with our bank .  Unfortunately, they cannot transact any withdrawal as it was OFFLINE. So, what I did, I went to another bank. When I inserted my ATM card, it says my account is not existing.  Then, I inserted my ATM card again, the it says my available balance was already P8.34.  My heart beats fast and was so worried why all my money was gone. Then, I went back to our Bank which is only a walking distance from the other bank which I planned to withdraw my money. I told their staff of what had happened to me when I transacted with their ATM machine.  The lady told me that it is an uncontrolled event.  That will really happened when the ATM machine is OFFLINE and you have already transacted for withdrawal. The ATM machine will automatically deduct the amount of your withdrawal. She told me that I have to file for ATM complaint so that my money will be returned back to my account.  It will take 3 to 4 days for the processing.  I felt relieved of what she had told me.  At least, my money is still there.  My problem is where to secure for the payment of the tuition.  Fortunately, I met my best friend in one of the malls in the city at 2:00 pm ,who is a devotee of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on that day of August 13.  I related to her of what had happened to me during that day.  She really pity me and we went to her depository bank to withdraw her money of P4,000 and she let me borrow the said amount so I can pay for the tuition.  I was so thankful and I promised  to pay her as soon as my money will be returned back by our depository bank.  In the morning of August 16,2012, I checked my account with our Bank through the internet.  I was so very happy that my money was return back in my account.

Chair Balancing Exhibition

This picture was taken last June 2012 during the Acrobatic Entertainment in our place.  Many people attended during the affair.  The Ad joc Committee of our Parish was the one sponsoring this show for the construction of our Church.  We thought only few will watch the show but unexpectedly the whole basketball court were mostly occupied by both kids and adult.  This is my second time to watch this kind of entertainment.

Did You Know?

1 comment:
1. Uncomfortable feelings that go on for a long time can affect the way a person's body works.  For example, the heart beats more quickly  when a person is upset. Some people lose their appetites when they are upset. Others overeat. You can protect your health by learning to handle uncomfortable feelings.

2. Your "funny bone" is not a bone at all.  If you bump your elbow at a certain point, you feel a tingle up and down your arm.  You might say that you hit your funny bone. What you really hit was a nerve in your elbow. This nerve is just beneath the skin and is not protected by bone or muscle.

Our Town Patroness - Our Lady Of Peace And Good Voyage

This is our very own patroness in our town and Her altar on our church, Nuestra Señora de La Paz Y Buen Viaje or Our Lady Of Peace And Good Voyage in Delapaz, Cortes, Bohol. After the lenten season, on the month of Flores de Mayo, our patroness is dressed up with pure white dress with the Our Lady Of Lourdes Medal and Belt. The Novena attendees and the many of our town's kids offer their colorful calachuchi flowers in honor of the Blessed Mother. I like the design of Her altar that is so simple. Sometimes the gold color of the paint makes it like look like a castle. Many people visit in our church because of her great miracle. There was a time that the statue cries real tears when people touch Her statue. It is an honor of us living in our place that she's our beloved patroness who will bring us closer to God's blessings.
